GENERAL OPERATION

  • You must be on the approved user list, accessible by QR code by each machine.

  • You must understand how to use the tool.

    • Operating checklists – QR code by each machine

    • Manuals – in wood case in cabinet to left of miter saw.

  • If you’re not sure of anything, ask someone authorized by management *

  • If anything doesn’t look right, or if something breaks:

    • Unplug the tool.

    • Fill out form below and tape it in a prominent location on the tool.

    • Contact Ted Russell. If urgent, by text; if not urgent, by email.

PERSONAL SAFETY

  • Wear PPE at all times when in shop, and feel free to remind others to do the same.

    • Safety glasses with side shields

    • Ear protection, especially with the loudest tools and during extended use.

  • No loose clothing.

  • No jewelry on hands, wrists, or around neck (unless tucked securely inside shirt).

  • Tie back long hair.

DUST REMOVAL

  • Dust collector

    • Check barrel before and after jobs generating large amounts of dust.

    • If more than ¾ full, empty in dumpster & replace bag.

      • Hand cart – outside wood shop; dumpster key – by front door.

      • Tie up plastic bag and throw into dumpster. No loose dust in dumpster.

      • Replace dumpster key.

      • Replace with a 55-gal bag on consumables shelf outside wood shop.

      • Put a couple of small scrap wood blocks in bag to prevent it from getting sucked up into duct.

  • JET ceiling air filter.

    • Use when sanding or any other work that makes fine dust.

    • Remote on wall near light switch.

    • Turn off the dust filter when finished.
