Table saw
PRE-RUN CHECK
Approved materials
Use only to cut new, dry wood, unless approved by Factory 3 management. Do not use to cut:
wood with any metal pieces (check for staples at the end of boards)
wet wood
pressure-treated wood
reclaimed wood
wood with any burnt sections, including from woodburning
If the SawStop mechanism is triggered due to any of these prohibited uses, you will be assessed $200 to cover the cost of replacing the automatic stop mechanism.
Rip cuts (along the grain of the wood)
Set rip fence to width of board to be cut.
Lock rip fence into position.
For boards less than 6” wide, use push pad or push stick; place on rip fence where it is ready when needed during cut.
Apply pressure on board toward rip fence and forward.
Cross cuts (across the grain of the wood)
Use miter gauge or cross-cut sled, depending on width of board.
Be sure the wood is held firmly onto the miter fence or cross-cut sled.
Machine check
Check that machine is unplugged.
Check that there is no dust clogging the dust collection path
Check that blade is at 90 degrees, or desired angle
Plug machine in.
Open blast gate. Close all other blast gates not in use.
Operation with the blast gate closed will result in clogged dust collection ducts, which someone has to clean out.
Turn on dust collector.
Startup
Turn on power switch and wait until left light is steady green. If light continues to flash red, the safety cartridge is defective. Turn off, unplug, make a note saying DO NOT OPERATE, tape on the table near the power switch, and email Ted Russell (ted@factory3.org).
Check around you for bystanders.
Turn on start/stop paddle.
POST-RUN CHECKLIST
Turn off start/stop paddle gently, with hand, not knee. Do not hit hard.
When no more cuts are to be made:
Turn off power switch.
Turn off dust collector.
Close blast gate.
Lower blade below surface of table.
Clean all sawdust and scraps from table and floor.
Return all push sticks, sleds, tools, and fixtures to their proper places.
