Beginner Oil Painting - Landscapes Class in Portland, Maine

In this 18-hour introductory course over six weeks, you will learn how to paint with oils without the worry of fumes. You will learn safe use of oils in a solvent-free practice, a variety of techniques, how to layer your painting, and basic surface preparation.

The focus will be landscapes, how to simplify and compose a scene, and how to work from general to specific in layers. Bring photos of landscapes, otherwise all materials are provided!

About the instructor:
Audrey Parker is an art teacher who loves to teach paper craft and painting. Her artistic practice revolves around creating realistic paper flowers, as well as watercolor paintings with elements of paper sculpture, focusing primarily on nature and our connection to it. She graduated from MECA in 2021 with a Masters in Art Education, and in 2019 with a B.F.A. in Painting and a minor in Art History. Growing up in rural Maine, Audrey has a deep connection to the natural landscape around us.
