Intro to Needle Felting Class in Portland, Maine

In this whimsical, hands-on workshop designed for both beginners and experienced felters, you will learn the art of transforming soft wool into pieces full of personality, a different project every month. You’ll become familiar with a variety of needle felting tools and the unique textures and colors of different types of wool. By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a completed needle felted sculpture and the skills needed to continue needle felting on your own.
Ages 8+ to adult. All supplies provided.

About the instructor: Mia Waisman is a fiber artist in Portland. She’s been felting since 2010 and teaching needle felting since 2017. Her work often draws inspiration from her childhood memories growing up in the Soviet Russia and now her life in Portland. Besides wool paintings and 3D felted sculptures, Mia creates one-of-a-kind whimsical ornaments that are loved and appreciated by many for their joyful expression and fine craftsmanship. Mia is a summa cum laude graduate from Fashion Institute of Technology, New York with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing Communications.
