Intro To Weaving Class in Portland, Maine

$135 CLASS FEE ($101.25 FOR FACTORY 3 MEMBERS)
4 STUDENTS max per class

Join us for a four-hour visit to the world of handweaving. The class offers the opportunity to weave on a loom that has already been dressed (ready for weaving) for each student. This introduction allows the focus to be on what it feels like and what is seen when you take a shuttle in hand and weave. It is a great class to just try out weaving or for determining whether you want to further explore handweaving.

Use of a 4-shaft table loom and weaving tools, plus fibers, are included in the cost. Bring a snack or lunch!

About the instructor:
Margaret B. Russell
is a self-taught handweaver with over 40 years of experience, a weaving teacher for close to 30 years, and a lifetime appreciation of making items by hand. She grew up in a home where, what could be handmade, was handmade. From clothing to furnishings, there were always constant examples that spoke to filling a need but also to the pure satisfaction of making something, anything yourself. Margaret’s early exposure to making set a lifelong path for her and through her teaching she likes to help others realize all the possibilities we have within us to create.
